How evaluations work
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Every film or series is evaluated by Claude, Anthropic's AI model. Claude uses the title's TMDB details (plot, genres, age rating, runtime, season and episode summaries) and what it knows about the title itself. No other rating site is used. A title is evaluated once and the result is kept, so everyone who opens it sees the same evaluation.
1. Six categories
Every title is scored separately in six categories: violence, frightening scenes, profanity, sexuality, substance use and mature themes (loss, grief, abuse and the like).
2. The 0–5 scale
Each score comes with a one-sentence reason and a confidence level (high, medium, low). When the model doesn't know a title well, it marks low confidence rather than raising the score.
- 0: None.
- 1: Barely bothers even a preschooler, such as a drink in the background or ordinary sadness.
- 2: The kind of peril and tension found in family animation.
- 3: A strong scene that stays with you, like the most intense moments of a PG-13 film.
- 4: Intense and frequent.
- 5: Very intense; meant for adults.
3. The general verdict and age
Without a child selected, the most intense category decides: a highest level of 0–1 is "Suitable", 2–3 "Caution" and 4–5 "Not suitable". The suggested age follows the highest level too: general audiences up to 1, 7+ at 2, 13+ at 3, 16+ at 4 and 18+ at 5. Titles TMDB marks as adult are always 18+.
4. The verdict for your child
With a child selected, the title is checked against their limits. Limits start from their age; "More protective" tightens every limit by one step, "More relaxed" loosens it by one, and you can also set each limit yourself. With every category within its limit you see "Suitable"; one category a step past its limit gives "Caution", two or more steps past give "Not suitable". For series, the riskiest of the series as a whole and its evaluated seasons counts.
5. AI can be wrong
The model can misremember a title or miss a scene, more likely with new and little-known titles. Take extra care with low-confidence evaluations, and when unsure, check the trailer or the title yourself. You can report an evaluation you think is wrong to (contact address to be added).
